Hit Me Baby One More Time was written by a Swede who meant the chorus to mean “hit me up on the phone one more time” but mistranslated it.

Freddie Mercury really loved cats. He had a vest with portraits of his cats painted on it, wrote songs about some of them, and had albums dedicated to not only his favorite cats, but to “all the cat lovers across the universe.” 

Madonna leaked a fake version of her album to pirates where every song was a loop of her saying “What the f**k do you think you’re doing?” In response, a hacker posted the real album on her own site for everyone to download with the message: “This is what the f**k I think I’m doing.”

Paul McCartney dreamed the melody to “Yesterday” and woke up thinking he subconsciously plagiarized the song. For about a month, he went around to people in the music business and asked them whether they had ever heard it before to make sure the song wasn’t theirs.

The song Fly Me to the Moon was the first music ever heard and played on the Moon, when Buzz Aldrin played it on a cassette tape.

The singer Lorde has synesthesia. So when she hears music she sees colors. When working on her album “Melodrama,” one song caused her to see violets and blues (similar to the album’s cover art), which helped shape the rest of the record.
